Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

Shiva

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥

oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam | urvārukam iva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya māmṛtāt ||

Meaning

We worship the three-eyed one, fragrant, who nourishes all; may he free us from bondage, like a cucumber from its vine, and from death, not from immortality.

Context and use

A Vedic hymn to Shiva (Tryambaka). Devotees recite it for peace of mind and well-being. It is a prayer, not a guarantee of any outcome.
